Re: ALARM 2161 LUBRICATION OIL PRESSURE DOWN

I have a Doosan Horizontal Mill HP6300 with pallet pool. I am getting alarm 2161 quite regularly and nothing seems to fix it permanently. Resetting the machine will clear the alarm, but it seems that every 15-20 minutes of runtime the alarm appears again. The way lube tank is full and as far as I can tell the pump and gage are working right. Is there something else I should be looking at? Can someone here help me out with this issue? Thanks in advance.

When getting the alarm, does the analog gauge make it to the appropriate location, but the alarm occurs anyway?

    If yes, replace pressure switch.

If no, Send me a video of the gauge - in action.

Re: ALARM 2161 LUBRICATION OIL PRESSURE DOWN

    Darryl,

Thanks again for the help. In watching the gauge while the machine is running it will cycle normally (into the green) 4-5 times without alarming, and then on a seemingly normal cycle (into the green) it will alarm. Is this an issue with the pressure switch? If so, can you point me to where that pressure switch is located?

Re: ALARM 2161 LUBRICATION OIL PRESSURE DOWN

Before replacing the switch I would check it for correct action. (change of state when pressurized)

    If faulty replace.

    If not, check wiring.

Switch is usually located under the black plastic cove on the pump itself.

Serial number of machine, and possibly pump model might be required to assist further.

Can you explain a little about how to check the change of state of the switch?

The machine serial number is: HP63000157

The pump type is: SKF MKU11-BW6-0428B Serial Number 1401

I had this same issue and it was when the ambient temp outside would change causing the lube oil to get thinner or thicker . When it is hot outside it would make the oil to thin and would not build up pressure

Thin oil would not be the reason why pressure would not be achieved.

Thin oil would leak past a minor deformity/wear in the distribution ports faster than thicker oil would, thus "not building pressure"

...but that is not the fault of the oil...that is the fault of the deformity/wear.

Re: ALARM 2161 LUBRICATION OIL PRESSURE DOWN

I have a TT1800SY (serial number ML0177-000857). Last night it started chirping on the lower turret slide. I turned the rapid override down to 25 percent. After further investigation I noticed none of the lube lines going to the ball screw nuts had oil in them. All the guides have oil going to them. The pump seems to be operating as per your lubricating cycle diagram with the exception of whether the diagram is to scale. It looks like the pump time should be about 2 1/2 minutes but it is more like 15 seconds.

It appears the balls screw lines are all hooked together. Is this the case? redundancy?

I am not getting any alarms, Just chirping from the balls screws.

Not to worry. I see every thread posted in the Doosan Forum.

I'm just the only one taking calls today (due to a Service Manager's Meeting) soooo... response times are long.

I think I might of resolved it, but I need confirmation. Is the ball screw nuts being supplied with an air over oil circuit?

The pump has a cycle that is (approximately) off for 5 minutes, then on for about 30 seconds, the repeat (DON'T Change setting based on this description)

It the ballscrew is believed to be "not getting lube" ...remove the lube line from the ballscrew, and manually activate the button on the lube pump for 25 seconds, then release.

After releasing a "metered amount" of lube should be dispensed. If not, there is a problem.

The current TT1800SY does NOT show any interaction of oil supply to the ballscrew.

The serial number was taken off the machine tag. It is a model PUMA TT1800SY, serial number ML0177-000857, manufacture date 2015.08

All your ballscrews are lubed by the Waylube (lubrication pump), not related to the air supply.

Re: ALARM 2161 LUBRICATION OIL PRESSURE DOWN

All the oil lines for the slides come off the manifold and go straight to the bearings. All of them are filled with oil. The oil lines for the ball screw nuts come off the manifold for 6 inches to a foot and then have a push connect coupler. Attached to that is a length of line and then a push to connect tee. One side off the Tee goes to the ball screw nut and the other side is connected to an air manifold. When the lube pump cycles there is also air released into these tee's. The ball screw nuts are lubricated with a "mist" of oil. That is why there is no oil showing in the lines at the ball screw nuts. There is oil showing in the line just before the tee. The problem I had was that the oil line feeding the lower turret x and z had become disconnected. I discovered this tracing back the lines. As I was pushing these lines the end connected to the coupler flipped right out. I pushed them back in and made sure they were seated and the problem appears to be resolved.

In that case...Thank you, for the correction!

All my manuals show no interaction from the air unit to the ballscrews. I will keep this in mind for future issues.

    Thank you.

Re: ALARM 2161 LUBRICATION OIL PRESSURE DOWN

Just to verify that it was the oil I put the old pump in put the new thicker oil in and it worked so them I put the new pump in and put the thin oil in and the same alarm so it did verify that the oil was the problem
