ALARM 2161 LUBRICATION OIL PRESSURE DOWN

I have a Puma 400 b it is only about 2 years old and just last week it kept giving a 2161 lubrication oil pressure down alarm . I called the doosan dealer in my area that we have come repair our machine when they go down and they said to rule out the pressure switch 1st so I did , I changed the pressure switch out and it still kept giving the alarm 2161. The pump has a gauge on it and when working properly it goes into the green and that is about 15 on the gauge ,when I get the alarm it only goes to 8 maybe 10 no where close to the green . Im thinking it could be a leak so I plug the line going out of the pump to the machine just to check the pump and it is not going up to the working pressure . Does anyone have any ideas

Sounds like the pump is the problem, if you plug all the outlets and it still cant make pressure. Drop the tank and check to see it there is a strainer on the inlet. Doosan keeps an eye on this forum and will answer you.

    check this thread:
    http://www.cnczone.com/forums/daewoo...bulletins.html

Look at the entry labeled: "How to tell if your lube lines are leaking, or distribution ports are malfunctioning, or if the pump is failing."

Let me know what you find (or email me a cellphone video of the gauge in operation)

The visual speed from 0 to 8 in comparison to the speed from 8 to 15 will tell me a lot about where it is malfunctioning.

Sounds like contamination in the pressure relief plunger. Pretty easy to disassemble and clean. You will need to re-adjust the max pressure when you put it back together. It's just a plug with a spring.

Unless it is a leak allowing unrestricted flow, thus limiting achievable pressure.

Or a clog in the pick-up line.

main line leak...pump being weak...poor pick-up...would all manifest as "slow from 0 to 8"

fast 0 to 8, but slow 8 to 17 is a leak/malfunction in the distribution ports.

not attaining 17 is checked by "blocking the main line" and running pump, if not 17= pump/pick-up/relief (though a sticking spring would usually manifest itself as higher pressure than desired)

OK I replaced the pump and now the 0-8 is normal from 8-17 is where it gets slow and sometimes with the new pump it does not even get to 18.

It's likely to be the distribution ports.

Note: if the new pump made a change to the action, it was probably close to failure.

Thought you said you plugged the output port from the pump? This would eliminate all lines and manifolds. If you didn't then id agree with replacing all the manifolds, but plugging the output is the very first test.

It could be leaking at the distribution ports and the pump could have been on its last leg...

...the leak, if left un-attended, would have caused the pump to work harder/longer, thus wearing it out prematurely.

    Causing a dual-issue.

what is the action on the pump's gauge?

follow this link, look at the post on how the gauge works.

everything works like the diagram it is just not going all the way to the top( top meaning it only goes to 10 on the gauge

Re: ALARM 2161 LUBRICATION OIL PRESSURE DOWN

    This is a distribution port

    Blue is the incoming supply
other side is usually blocked off, but could have another port section.

Green is an example of where the output hoses connect.

The Pink hovering square represents a disconnected output hose (which is what you are about to do...)

Disconnect the output hoses from the distribution port (ALL OF THEM). Activate the pump while watching the port output. A small amount of weeping/spurting should occur, but NOT a continuous flow.

after releasing the manual activation of the pump, the springs should inject the oil out (into the air, in our case)

if constant flow = replace that distribution port.

if not, re-attach the output lines and find the next port assembly and repeat this test.

What should I check can you help or do I need to give you more info
The issue is in the distribution ports.

Remove all the output lines, either one at a time or all at once (just mark where they go if the ports are different amounts, and yes, different amounts can appear to be the same physical size)
