Thanks for that Keith, I certainly did not look at that option and it would have been within my budget. Still not for me (especially at this point) as I'll be selling sometime in the next year but before the decision to sell was made I might have gone that route. I'll keep that in mind if I keep the router or get creative in expanding the router table.

Ok so another issue to hopefully work through - the jog dial on the pendant is not working. I hope that is a parameter setting but haven't had time to determine it yet.

Problem was a loose connection between the keyboard and chair as they say (me).... I think on the old system the mpg button defaulted to on and now I have to press the mpg button first.

Ok - a little resurrection on this thread. I did sell the machine (to a customer 2 buildings over) and we moved it with a fork lift. A couple of quirks as I revived it today...

1) is only worth mentioning in passing as it is not really an issue of mine - the vacuum relay now only goes on when the metal electrical box is not fully closed. Consistently fine if it is ajar/not fully closed but not if it is fully closed. I think it might be a magnetic issue but something for the electrician to figure out. Also Aux 3 now seems to drop the tool - maybe it always did but I don't recall that.

2) I am more concerned about. The Controller computer has twice rebooted randomly - once just while we were setting tools up etc and once when it was running a program (air cutting). 1 Weird thing is that the job did not stop - I thought it would literally have to as the power relay for the motors would have clicked off. I am hoping that it may have been an issue with a loose sync cable (fiber optic) as the cpu7 board has a broken clip on the fiberoptic input for the sync cable. I've had an issue before but I don't remember how it manifested itself and at any rate its now on a linux 2.7 system rather than DOS so it might be different.

I wasn't able to get it to repeat after securing the sync cable (by taping it to the wire next to it that is clipped in) but not sure if I'm just lucky at this point.

So any thoughts on whether that might have been the cause? I'll see next time I am with him trying a job but thought I'd throw it out there.

No, the SYNC fiber cannot cause the computer to spontaneously reboot.

That type of issue is usually due to a faulty PC power supply; overheating CPU (check heat sink & fan); faulty motherboard; or momentary interruption of the 120VAC supply.

It is also possible something is momentarily shorting the PC's 5VDC bus, which passes through the CPU7/CPU10 board to the jog panel and to the encoders. Check your jog pendant and encoder cables for damage or faulty connections.
