Need help about using a Siemens servo as spindle

    Hi,

I want to use a servo motor as spindle motor in my tabletop milling machine. The servo I have is Siemens 1FK7042-5AK71-1GG5-Z but I really don't know about servos. I only have the motor. Haven't get a drive for it yet. My question is can I use this motor with 220v wall electricity?

I read the manual of the motor but couldn't find anything about voltage.

Can you please help me on this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Best,
    Suat

NO! Do not connect it to a wall socket!
    a) it requires a 3 phase supply and b) it has a DC voltage requirement and c) as a sychronous servo motor it needs a controller to provide the direction and speed information!

Thanks kawazuki. So can I still not use this motor with a proper driver/controller? I think this motor is rated to use on higher voltages but I'd like to use it at home.

I just want to use a servo that makes 600w or more.

When I said controller the word I was looking for was 'Inverter' This box of electronics will take the wall 220vAC power and convert it to 3 phase DC for the motor.
Your machine controller software will communicate with the Inverter usually with a 0-10v pulse modulated signal to vary the spindle speed. These things can be
'hit and miss' and do require some tuning or more accurately 'fiddling with'
600w isn't much power for a spindle and the speed rating isn't particularly suitable for smaller sized tools needed due to lower power! Its torque doesn't seem
brilliant either so its maybe better as a motion motor than a spindle motor?
