I get a lot of people who want to run their servo motors directly from line voltage without a transformer.
Here is a way to reduce the voltage output from the direct 169 VDC that you would get if you directly rectified the 120 (120 x 1.141)= 169 Vdc
Using the secondary of a 12 volt (or greater) transformer out of phase with the 120 volts, it will subtract 12vac volts and give 108 VAC (just as you would get 132 vac (120+12) if it was in phase )
You can also add a In-rush current device to the 120v input to help reduce surge current when power is first applied such as this one
