Hello everyone,
At work recently we bought a G0704 mill with the plans of converting is to CNC. I have the ball screw kit installed and everything seems to be fine there but I just put together all the control electronics and hooked up the motors to test everything and for the life of me I can not get the motors to work.
I'm using a kit from Automation Technology, here's a list of the components in the kit.

(1) KL34H295-43-8B 906oz-in NEMA 34 stepper motor
(2) KL23H2100-50-4B 570 oz-in stepper motors
(1) KL-8070D motor driver
(2) KL-5056D motor drivers
SE-600-48 48VDC /12.5A switching power supply 110VAC/220VAC
C10 breakout board
5V power supply

I'm almost positive that I have everything wired properly(I followed the wiring diagram on Automation Technology's web site) and have all the current and micro step settings on the motor drivers correct. I'm not sure if I have some of the jumper settings on the BOB wrong or if I have the config settings in mach 3 wrong. I've tried many different combinations of jumper settings and config settings but nothing has worked.
Here are the jumper and config settings at the moment.

-C10 jumper settings
Pins 2-9 set to output (pins1-2)
Com set to Com-5V (pins 2-3)
Pins 2-9 set to Pull-Down (pins 1-2)

-KL-5056D Current and Microstep settings
4.9A Peak 3.5A RMS Switch 1 off, 2 on, 3 on.
Standstill Current Switch 4 off.
Microstep 8-1600 Switch 5 off, 6 off, 7 on, 8 on.

-KL-8070D Current and Microstep settings
6.1A Peak 4.3A RMS Switch 1 off, 2 on, 3 on.
Standstill Current Switch 4 off.
Microstep 8-1600 Switch 5 off, 6 off, 7 on, 8 on

-Wiring
(X Axis)
PUL+ to com
PUL- to pin 2
DIR+ to com
DIR- to pin3

(Y Axis)
PUL+ to com
PUL- to pin 4
DIR+ to com
DIR- to pin5

(Z Axis)
PUL+ to com
PUL- to pin 6
DIR+ to com
DIR- to pin7

It's been a while since I set my Leadshine drives up, but I'm almost positive the step, direction, and enable pins from your breakout board go into the corresponding negative pins on the drives, and you connect +5V output from your breakout board (or power supply) to the step, direction, and enable positive terminals on the drives IN PARRALEL.

Automation Tech doesn't use the enable pins on their drivers. They will work using either positive or negative commons, I've done it both ways.
Automation Tech uses +5v for common and yours seems wired correctly.
Do the motors lockup when power is on?
What are your Mach 3 settings?
Where did you get the parallel adapter and are you using a parallel cable from AT?
Can't just use any old parallel cable, it has to be specific for this or the pinouts won't match.

Yes my motors lockup when the power is on. I'm not sure of the mach 3 settings I would have to check my pc on Monday. The parallel cable and adapter came from a box of old computer cables. After some digging on the forum yesterday I started to suspect that the parallel cable might be the issue so I ordered a new one from Automation Tech before I left work yesterday. Hopefully that will solve my issue.

Check your BIOS settings too - setups like this generally require the parallel port to be in EPP mode only.

You can.use an ohm meter to check continuity with all pins. Older cables usually have all 25 pins through. Or use a DB25 ribbon cable, that guarantees all pins go through.

I don't know how the C10 breakout board works, but you can check if "ChargePump on E Stop" is selected in the General Config screen.

Well I finally got my new parallel cable today and I am very happy to report that the motors are spinning. I wish I would have known that you could't use just any old parallel cable, would have saved me a hole bunch of time.
Anyway I just want to say thanks to everyone that responded, your help is greatly appreciated. I'm sure I'll have a ton more questions for you guys as I try to wrap my head around all this CNC stuff, I have a lot to learn.
