    I installed Path Pilot. Its started happening again?? .. I cant win. back to the drawing board

    I think you asked the right question in your first post:

    can it be the motor at fault? a driver? the controller?

    You have now demonstrated that it's not the software so I think you should start looking at the motor and the driver, and the wiring connections between them, substitution is the way to go.

    I recently just started having the exact same problem that you did as shown in your first posted video. I suspect it has something to do with the z-axis brake. JimsMachining, did you ever solve this issue? I will be calling Tormach Monday.

    Figured out it was a blown 2A fuse F5 that is located in the top left of the electrical panel on a series 3 machine. I suspect that this is what the OP had as well. Since the brake is normally closed, the machine was fighting the brake to move up and down causing the squeaking and stalling.
