I know it's a bit of a gamble but I see a fair amount of air cooled 0.8kw spindles for about $180 shipped. Also, my first choice I'm really hunting for is a 0.4KW spindle for a small lighter duty production 3d profiling setup..

I've been looking on Aliexpress and Alibaba for a while.
I see your garden variety VFDs for about $150, and the rather affordable air cooled spindles minus the almost elusive 0.4KW ones ($200+ and up to 50K RPMs so maybe too light duty due to high rpms?).

Am I asking for problems?
It's tempting to save $300 on all of this, and have something that'll work yet be a good step above a router.
I also see the 0.8kw spindles for $300 (expensive since most are about $150-$175 shipped), and wonder if the quality is extremely good or the price is just bloated.

I like what I have from UgraCNC but it's hard to foot the bill for another setup, when it's for a lighter duty machine, and when it Appears that if you pay for the quality then you'll get it with good runout specs..

Anyways, your two cents would be appreciated since I've been off the forum lately, and don't know how all this works.

I have a 0.4kW spindle that I bought from ugracnc.com 2 years ago. It's been working just fine. I also bought a 110 volt Delta VFD from him at the same time. No problems.
