    Stop or Feed Hold Key

I have a numeric keypad pluged into the USB port so I can jog my JRGO CNC without being at the computer. I would like to use one of the keys as a Feed Hold Or a Stop. I can cut off the router motor manually.

Can Mach be re-programmed to accept that? (Without the number lock on, the best key to use would be the "End" key)

STOP Stops all motion instantly and shuts off all outputs (spindles, etc). Stop may cause lost steps (position)
PAUSE Stops motion at logical spot (runs moves in look-ahead). Does not loose position and does not turn off outputs.
IN MACH Config/Hotkeys designate a function you want to the key on your USB number pad. Also look at Keygrabber application (in the MACH3 director) to remap keys.

You need to download screen designer and change it in the screen file. The spacebar is pause by default.

If it is any help, feedhold is really a temporary Feedrate 0 command. Because of this, no interruption of the program processing really occurs and the machine can resume cutting when a new feedrate is commanded.
First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.

Probably the video on the Machsupport.com site.

If you just want to change the hot key for the Pause (FeedHold), here's what you do. Make a copy of the 1024.set screen file and rename it to use as your new screen. Open screen designer, and load the new screen file. Double clicj on the FeedHold button, and a dialog box should open. Uncheck the HotKey box, and re-check it. This should bring up a window asking you to type a key. Whatever key you hit will become the new Hotkey for that button. You may need to do this for any screen with a Feedhold button. Change screens with the onscreen buttons just like in Mach. Save the Screen. Open Mach, and load the new screen. View>Load Screen.

When I run screen designer, I can put a button on the screen, but when I single click it, the button is not selected (I can't resize it, or delete it). I can move it around and double click it to set it's functions.

Can you resize it from the dialog box by entering the size? Seems to me that if you can move it, it IS selected. Is it a black background by chance? You can't tell when something is selected if the background is black.

I am experimenting with a copy of the 1024 screen.

If I left click and hold mouse button down, I do not see the handles, but it will move. When I release the mouse button the handles briefly show up, then the screen flickers, like is is refreshing, and the handles disappear.

I tried it on a blank screen, and it works like you would expect.

I see that the reset button does that. It's because there is something else underneath it. Is that what's happening to you?

My reset button does not do anything, except when I double click it, I get a "Select Bitmap" screen. I cannot move it, nor does it show a flash of the handles like the others.

I have the same software loaded on another computer, so I will give it a try.

I found that when I single click one of the other buttons, even though the handles disappear, I can resize it and delete it. There is still something strange about that, but it does work.
