Hi All

I'm a newbie on CNC zone but I've done CNCing in the past... now want to buy a small simple machine for some basic work including:
1- cutting pockets in aluminium 6061 alloys (3mm depth)
2- Cutting pockets in some 1-2mm carbon fiber sheets (which have to be submerged in water during cutting).
3- cut some ABS and other things

I've narrowed down my choices to the following two items;

X6-1500GT 3-axis
Stepcraft 2 / 600 with Kress 1050 F1 and UCCNC

Being in the UK the X6 will work out more expensive... but I am worried if the Stepcraft is up to the job of doing the above work.

I've searched through the forum but haven't seen a comparison of these two particular models by users (surprisingly since the X6 / 6040 are so popular!).

I would also be happy to hear about "alternatives" to these two... I have looked at cheapo 6040s in various guises (don't want the hassle) as well as some interesting option in the UK called JBEC... but its once again a bit pricey. From an Al/CF cutting perspective I've looked at some CNC mills like the Syil machines... but they're a bit beyond my price range really... though I do like the brushless spindle motor on my SX-2 mill!
