Hitachi jw200 needs 30 amp breakers?

I am getting ready to use my single phase to 3 phase hitachi wj200 2.2kw vfd and in the manual it says to wire each power wire (240vac in this case) with a 30 amp breaker? I was hoping to run my whole machine (bridgeport knee mill similar to BOSS with servos) on less than 30 amps. If my 2hp J2 head is only 6amps three phase, why so many amps for the input? Looks like my 20 amp air compressor outlet will not do if it will draw that much......

actually it says to use a 30amp type J FUSE not CB..... the 2.2kw is rated to 4hp motor, 12amp output 3phase.... this means AT 2X 1PH INPUT it is capable of pulling about 24amps continuously.

Now, you are using a 2hp motor at 6 amps 3ph; so you can expect to pull max 12amps 1ph input if you set parameters right in the vfd. Also, since you are using a CB, if it were me, I would use that 20amp 1ph 240v outlet.
