    Question 2.2KW Chinese Water-Cooled Spindle / Kress 1050 with Cheap Tonsen TS3040C H80 CNC

Hello, I was wondering whether this is a ridiculous idea... (and hope this is in the right forum...)

I bought a £600 Tonsen TS3040C H80 from Ebay last year. Despite getting used very occasionally, the chuck now falls out all the time! (It is one of those crappy flexible shaft spindles) So I was thinking about buying either the Kress 1050 from here: KRESS 1050 FME-1 1050 W Milling motor 5.000-25.000 1/min - Year 2015 | eBay or a 2.2KW water-cooled spindle from here: 2.2KW CNC SPINDLE MOTOR ER20 + 2.2KW 220V VFD INVERTER DRIVE WATER COOLED | eBay

From what I can tell, the Kress weighs 1.7kg, and the chinese spindle weighs 5.5-6kg. This is my main concern, as my stepper motors don't exactly look like they were built for this kind of weight... especially considering it came with a flexible shaft spindle. However, I did do a quick test, and from what I can tell... it seems to be able to lift a 6.5kg sledgehammer around without a problem. Should this be enough evidence to tell me it'll be perfectly fine with a 6kg spindle... or is it likely I'm going to run into problems when I try actually cutting stuff out at the same time?

I'm leaning more towards the Chinese water-cooled one currently, as people seem to say they are more reliable than the Kress, and an awful lot of people here seem to use them.

Thanks in advance... I just want some input from someone who has had experience with this type of thing to either tell me whether it's a perfectly reasonable idea... or whether I'm out of my mind and about to blow £184.

This has been here a while with no response.\

I just wondered how you have got on. I also have the crappy flex shaft spindle on mine and i want to put a kress on my machine.

Im hoping it will be ok once i have fitted it.
