    Need HELP! - Settings for Sunfar E550 VFD and HSD 1090-100 Spindle

    I recently replaced my previous vfd with a new one that is more appropriately rated for my 6hp spindle but I'm having some issues with setting up the parameters. I attempted to follow the suggestions from djnuwa's post here but i keep getting a "Motor Overload" error.

    According to the manual these are the possible reasons:
    1. The load is too large 2. Acceleration time is too short 3.Protection factor setting too small 4. Torque boost is too high.

    Solutions:
    1. Reduce load
    2. Extend acceleration time ( I set this to 12s)
    3. Increase the overload protection factor of motor ( I did adjust the overload protection and it gave me a different error "Inverter Overload")
    4. Reduce torque boost (it's set at the minimum)

    I've tried everything I can think of but I keep getting the same error. Does anyone have any experience with this particular vfd that can offer any suggestions?

    If it helps here is the spindle info:
    Model: HSD AT/MT 1090-100 Asynchronous 3 phase motor
    V 220 KW 4.5 (5.4)
    HZ 300 HP 6.11
    RPM 18000 A 16.8
    Is: F Poll: 2
    TA 20 degrees C
    Serv: S1 (S6 40%)

    Inverter: Sunfar E550 5.5kW input 220V single phase output 220 3phase

    tonebag

    Those settings would not be suitable for your spindle,if you used what is in that post

    Hi,

    Did you ever get the spindle running? I have the same setup (sunfar e550 vfd and 3.7kw air cooled spindle all 220v )and need the parameters as I keep getting an error and spindle getting hot.

    Thank you

    When you have over heating, you could be running the spindle too slow, or your Hz settings are not correct

    What are your spindle spec's

    Hi,

    I am getting the code fu.12 as basic running frequency error.

    I have it set at 15 and it goes up to 50 max in the settings

    The spindle will accelerate to maybe to 200 rpm and click off

    Re: Need HELP! - Settings for Sunfar E550 VFD and HSD 1090-100 Spindle

    I have it figured out. The f0.03 need to be set to 120 (or the lowes safe spindle running hz) and f0.04 need to be the max spindle frequently which is 300hz

    OK so if anybody needs the settings I will share mine.

    I have been looking at this spindle for over 8 months and today it runs

    Thank you mactec54 for pointing me in the right direction.

    This is correct only if 120Hz for F0.03 is the slowest that your spindle can run without over heating, normally for air cooled this setting is higher

    Here are some more that you need to set, there are other Parameters as well to set to keep your Spindle motor safe, I will post more if I think there is a need

    F0.03= 120 ( This needs to be checked with the Manufactured Spec to see how slow your Spindle can run )

    F0.04=300 ( Max Motor Frequency )

    F0.05=12 ( Adjustable Acceleration )

    F0.06=12 ( Adjustable Deceleration )

    F0.07=1 ( S-Curve for Acceleration and Deceleration )

    F0.12=300 ( Motor Rated Frequency )

    F0.13=220 ( Motor Rated Volts )

    F2.19=1 ( Number of Pole Pairs )

    I set the parameters like you posted and it works great.

    F0.03 is at 100hz

    Thank you

    Just watch that your spindle motor does not over heat, this may be to low at 100Hz for your air cooled spindle

    Another thing to check your spindle motor is Rated at 12 A

    what is the VFD rated output A ??

    As this Parameter F3.13 will need to be set to suit, this is important to protect your spindle from over currant

    Here is the sticker on the vfd I don't know weather it is the rating or max output it can handle

    I will have to check this out some more as to how they want it to be used, I though it went lower than 100% but 150% for now is better than 180%

    It appears to be voltage Amps Frequency are controlled automatically, as long as Voltage and Frequency are set correct

    This is what I found in a different manual same manufacture

    It will determine automatically the current and voltage of stator of motor, which will be controlled within the allowable range.

    So not much to worry about, if this is in fact an auto function in the VFD Drive that you have

    Just run and Enjoy, I could not see any other Parameters that you need to change, there are other's that you can play with, but be careful with what you change or the value you use, DC Breaking is one to look at, this can help slow the spindle down faster, as I said be careful with what numbers you use start with small increments, these motors can not take lots of DC injection

    Great then. I don't really have a use for fast braking of spindle so I will leave it to spin down a longer value since that will not matter because the gcode is doe running.

    Thanks for all the advices much apreciated

    I had some time so took another look, I was not convinced that all was good, I found this, this will control your VFD current output to the Spindle, like the other setting but this one goes down to the 50% which I think you may need
    Once this is set to 110% and above you will not have any Spindle Motor Protection

    Post how it runs with these changes

    There is not much to set in this VFD Drive, if you spindle motor is the 2.2Kw then the list below should get you going

    Sunfar 550 2.2Kw Water Cooled Parameters

    F0.00=3 (Key Pad Use )

    F0.02=0 (Run/Stop Key Pad Use )

    F0.03= 100

    F0.04=400 ( Max Motor Frequency )

    F0.05=12 ( Adjustable Acceleration )

    F0.06=12 ( Adjustable Deceleration )

    F0.07=1 ( S-Curve for Acceleration and Deceleration )

    F0.12=400 ( Motor Rated Frequency )

    F0.13=220 ( Motor Rated Volts )

    F1.03=100

    F1.04=400

    F2.19=1 ( Number of Pole Pairs )

    F3.13=150% ( To Be Adjusted to Suit Motor Amps )
