Posted the following in the Alibre forum, but thought it might be useful/news to others.

Tried to download it, turns out 3D Systems bought Alibre, and Design Xpress is no longer free.
Know how I can get a copy? Alternatives?

Downloaded eMachineShops cad ditty, but Alibre would undoubtedly be a lot better.

I have been using Alibre since it came out but I think I will make the switch to Autodesk Fusion360 instead.

Try Design Spark Mechanical, really a nice 3D CAD program.

A few years ago, when Alibre was purchased by 3D Systems, the product lineup was changed. The flagship is Geomagic Design, which is a pro version and is priced accordingly (although we give discounts on it) but there are a couple of versions that cost much less, such as Cubify Invent and Cubify Design, intended to complement a consumer-level 3D printer.
