Question New spindle drive for my DM4400...

    Hi all,

This is my fist post in this superb forum

I'm about to convert my DM4400 to Mach3 and therefore need a new spindle drive but i'm not sure what to get. I have been looking at a drive from CNCdrive - motion controls CNCDrive.com type DG4S-16035 which seems to be doing the job. Problem is that I'm a novice with this servo stuff so it would be nice if you guys could point me in the right direction. Is there maybe a better solution?

The magic smoke escaped from the servo amplifier so the thing is not working anymore. Seems like a good time to upgrade to a bit more modern system.

    I use a Bardac(Sprint) XRi3600/36 in my 4400's.
    They work pretty good.
Another option would be a Parker 514C/32

looks like great drivers but oh my...that was some pricey units...

Do you know what the armature voltage from the Bardac is running at full spindle speed? Is it more than 115 volts?

Are you using the original spindle tachometer?

I was lucky. I picked them up off of eBay for 150 each.
I believe its 180 volts at the armature and 28 volts for the tacho generator.

This might be a more reasonably priced drive...
