    Buying stock from Onlinematals.com

I need some input guys. I have been buying some 0.25 alum. stock from onlinemetals.com for some parts I make.
I noticed that some of the pieces I get are perfect on the "good side" but some come with some scratches which I considered bad stock.

Should I maybe be facing my stock and not mind the surface scratches? The problem I see then is that my part will be thinner and I will probably see tool marks.
    I need some advice thanks.

Below is what I have recently gotten, is it typical to expect this?

Looks pretty typical to me. Are you ordering finished stock specifically or just assuming one side should be finished already? Have you tried contacting them and telling them what your wanting? They may or may not have some that's scratch free. Usually prefinished material is a additional charge.

I thought I was ordering something with a "finished" side. Maybe not.
In the past I have gotten stock with a film on one face. I will have to pay more attention I guess.

I guess that I can always mill 0.005" or the top. Would hand polishing get rid of the tool markings?

A buffing wheel with the appropriate rouge should get rid of the marks if the finish is good.
