Piercing Protective Plastic on Stainless Steel

    Hey all!
I'm wondering if any of you have had luck with a power/speed setting that pierces the protective film that comes on Stainless steel without etching the steel. I'm trying to make it easier for my workers to peel of very specific areas of the plastic, while keeping it on other areas still, to protect the part during manufacture.

My CO2 laser will not mark steel or aluminum without a coating of cermark.
