Just bought 2 ksteps and can't get motor 0 on J2 to work on either board. J3-J5 all work fine. The motor is good. If I swap it with another channel it works. Seems like an enable problem. If I set bit 45 all motors hold except 0. Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi sdavenport,

Very strange to have two bad boards with the same failure. The enable is common to all 4 channels so if one is enabled they should all be holding.

What are the motor specifications?

Silly question: do you have the screw terminal plugged on correctly (not shifted by one pin)?

If not please contact dynomotion support for an RMA number to return the boards for analysis/repair/replacement.

Hi, Tom,
I'm pretty sure everything was connected properly. Still, I agree it is unlikely that 2 boards were bad. I must have done something wrong. I just noticed that U17 is extremely hot on both boards and my power supply is also quite hot. Note: no motors a connected to J2. For this project I need 5 axis so maybe I'll just remove U17 on both boards.

Hi Shannon,

In that case you should also remove the FETs U1, U2, U3, U4 otherwise they would have floating gates and may all turn on.
