    RPM / G76 canned cycle

    Hello,

I default to 1000 RPM when single point threading on my CNC Fanuc OT 1999 control. Currently I am cutting a 3/8-16 thread in stainless and it is running good. I have cut air at 2000 RPM and seeing how fast the machine is moving and wondered if it is too hard on the machine and if there would be thread pitch error.

Any experiences with faster RPM's? I know surface footage comes into play on larger thread diameters but what about smaller diameters.

    Thanks

The faster the RPM the more pitch error you will see during lead in and lead out. The middle portion of the thread my be fine. I have found that diameter (SF) and pitch control what RPM I run. The finer the pitch the higher the RPM.

It will depend on how good your tooling is, I run that size in O1 material at 2302 RPM F22, and this is conservative,
