    NEED HELP!!! spindle not working 6040z cnc

    I've recently purchase a 6040z 4 axis cnc machine. I've finally got the axes moving with Mach 3 but am still having trouble understanding what a VFD is and why my spindle won't speed up. The spindle is a water cooled 1.5kv.

    VFD stands for Variable Frequency Drive. 3-phase spindles, unlike normal induction motors, go faster when the frequency of the electricity they're fed increases. Normal US electricity comes in at 60hz frequency, but the VFD will boost it much higher. If you've got the spindle running, what happens when you twist that white dial?

    I do not have the spindle working but when I turn the dial, nothing happens. If I change the spindle speed in Mach 3 the numbers on the vfd go up but the spindle still does nothing
