    Angry 1040 Low Hydraulic Pressure

This alarm seems to be permantly on, even on machine reset. It just started happerning. Can anyone help, its on a Fanuc 18T control.

Machine is a hardinge Conquest T42.

If you keep hold of reset the alarm goes, but the pump does not start up and the alarm returns on letting reset go

I would think you need to find out what is preventing the pump from comming on?
Is it a fuse or contactor overload require resetting?

Where do I start? I am not familiar with this machine but, does the pump run? If not check fuses/breakers. If it runs, does the pressure reach the required level on the pressure gauge? If not, is the motor actually driving the pump. Often motors will shear the drive keys/splines or the pressure relief may be stuck open. If all of the above checks out ok, I would suggest that it is a problem with the pressure switch itself.

check the Hyd. motor Running or not, if not running check the Electrical side first. If Motor is running check the Drive to pump & check the pump output. if pump output is ok, check the Pr. switch wires & pr. switch function.

this can depend on how the lube system is set up, some lube pumps run intermittently and are expected to trip a pressure switch within a certain time span, others run while the machine is in auto/start, so this set up would probabally require the press. sw. seen all the time.
In both cases, check both Lube pressure and P.Switch.
It is probabally a PMC input so it can be checked on the diag or ladder screen.
