I have a jcut 6090a equiped with a 1.5kw spindle / vfd, er11 collect. The machine runs fine since I've bought it 2.5 years ago, but I need larger tools : I cut wood and the surface quality when profiling is not good with 6mm bits and 3d surfaces takes too long. Larger tools may help.

What do you think of that spindle : Professional High Quality CNC spindle motor. ? This comes with an er20 collet, great for 12mm bits !

Do I need to upgrade my VFD ? I don't need the full power of the 2.2kw spindle...

After googleing a bit, it seems that I need a new VFD too :/ ( Needs to be at least the power, or more, of the spindle.

If you install a larger spindle you will need to match the output to the spindle input has far as amps (kw) goes.

Be aware that you can get a similar spindle for half the price from Ebay, but it won't have the warranty that UGRA provides. But since your in Belgium, the cost of sending a spindle to UGRA for warranty issues might be as much as buying another from EBay.

best would be contact mandy and she going to arrange you a new vfd with spindle... they going to set up so you need only follow their instructions to replace..
you can save a lot headache ...
