mach3 - Z axis counter shows unspecified values

Hi . A few days ago i have noticed that Z axis counter in mach3 does not display correct values which are set up in safe Z and other settings, and Z axis does not "keep highs".
    For example:
when I click Cycle start Z axis goes up in Safe Z and counter shows 24.9996 ( predefined value 25.0000 in Mach3)), and when toll plunge in to material (final-flat deep) it shows 2.0009 (predefined value 2.0000 (in Vcarve)) , also rapid Z gaps move shows 2.0009 ( predef.values in V carve 2.0000).
Also when I press STOP Z Axis goes too high and hit in limit switch. When I press "gotozero" counter shows 0.0000.
I tried reinstaling Mach 10 times , also I tried other version of Mach, but I can not fix a problem. As I understood - Mach just send signals to driver and does not recieve return informatio what machine did.So I assume it is Mach or comp !?
Does anybody have any ideas about this problem.
    thank you in advance...

    1) Mach3 does not go to Safe Z when you click Cycle Start.
    2) Where are you setting Z zero? The top of the material is typically Z=0, and cutting moves are negative Z values.
    3) Is your Safe Z set in Machine Coordinates or Work Coordinates. If you don't want it to crash, it should be set to Machine Coordinates, and you should Home the Z axis each time you turn on the machine.

What kind of machine are you using where discrepancies of less than a thousandth of an inch matter to you? If it's a router, that's the least of your worries.

Just to clarify, the difference between 2.000 and 2.009 is probably due to your step resolution.

Re: mach3 - Z axis counter shows unspecified values

People thank you very much for taking the time to answer.I have home made machine, and im engraving letters in stone . its dc servo motors/drivers. I started to pay attention to above mentioned when I noticed that the Z axis is not "holding height". Koncretely, each additional letter that I engraved was shallower by 1/10 mm, so I suspect that Mach is not working well. I reinstaled mach and its better now. The next thing I'll do is reinstalling the VCarve.Thank You again, I will follow what happens
