I have built my own cnc machine with a 60 x 120 bed. I bought a tormach 1100 mill head from tormach but they wouldn't sell me the controler so i bought the same controller that they use, the emerson commander sk sensorless vector drive with braking resistor. unfortunatly i don't seem to get the power out of motor that i should. I would appreciate it if some one out there that has the tormach 1100 mill with that controller could scroll through the menue of the controller and tell me what the setting are that the factory tormach machine uses.

Are you using a direct drive spindle, or are you running a pulley reduction system? This is an 1800 rpm motor?

If you are looking for higher torque at low spindle speeds, direct drive of a VFD controlled induction motor is going to be problematic.

I am using the total tormach 1100 head so it has the pulleys. it all works and i get the full range of speeds but i don't seem to have to power that i think it should have, the motor slows down alot when making even small cuts.

There was a fellow on the forum that bought a replacement Emerson controller, I think he got the settings directly from Emerson for it.

The manual for that controller is online. IIRC Tormach supplies a memory card with the settings on it for their config. Not sure if those can be 'scrolled through' or not.

Access by scrolling through is not really easy. There are 18 layers of menus, each with 40+ variables. To shift between menus, you have to modify one of the parameters (#10) to shift to the next menu.
