Submicron Dial Indicator (was: DIY Diamond Turner)?

I am researching parts I would need to, potentially, build a simple diamond Turning lathe. I do not have enough cash for a proper profilometer (will do QC at another site), but a precision dial indicator would be good to have at hand for initial measurements. Can anyone recommend a quality dial indicator that would have 1 micron increments, or even less (0.5 micron?) That's about 1/25 (or 1/50) of 0.001". I saw Starret has this -- any good? It's about 1 micron, but they seem to have nothing better than this one. It's all stainless steel, whereas I expected some more exotic materials for thermal expansion (Invar?)

If you search for LVDT it should give you what you are looking for. I personally like Tesa and have a TT10 which goes down to 0.1 microns. I have an older version which I would sell if you are interested or there might be some on ebay. PM me if interested.
