Removing Ink Marks From Kaiser Aluminum Stock

I am new here. Was trying to find a way to wipe off the Markings from some
Kaiser Aluminum Stock I just Bought from ALCOBRA.

Couldn't find anything of use by surfing the Web on Google.

Tried everything I have - I am a retired PhD Chemist - NOTHING worked....
the Black "Ink" would not respond to Mineral Spirits, Acetone, MEK,
Methylene Chloride, Xylol, Isopropyl Alcohol, Terpentine, WD-40, Hoppe's #9,
Wipe-Out Patch-Out, Sweets 7.62 Solvent, 409 Cleaner, Rust Out Cleaner,
Tap Free Cutting Fluid, ATF, Kroil, Gummout Carb Cleaner, and "spit".

Picked up an old can of some Paint Stripper I had - Oh Lord!
    It worked ! FAST !

"Klean-Strip" Premium Stripper - 18 oz. Spray Can. Sprays out as a foam.

NASTY knarly stuff folks ! Better use Neoprene Gloves because it hurts when it gets on skin !
Kills your skin. Toxic to breath ! Methylene Chloride - an aggressive solvent.

Funny thing, I tried Methylene Chloride alone and it did not work !

But this "Premium Paint Stripper" worked instantly !

Just thought I should FYI folks.....

As a chemist you will be able to tell us what's in the stripper that the others did not have ?

As a Chemist - an unknown, proprietary mixture of nasty solvents !

Nowadays one could go look up the MSDS of said Klean-Strip Premium Stripper
to see what the mixture is.
    Here ---> http://www.kleanstrip.com/uploads/do...DS-4015.34.pdf

If you want to.....I'll just continue to use the stripper now that I have STUMBLED
upon it purely by happenstance, as it were. Jolly good !

i.e. - easier to buy it than try to make it.

I was informed that the Kaiser Bubble Jet Ink was most probably applied to the Hex
Rod whilst it was still quite hot and the Ink baked into the Aluminum. When the Ink
coating the rod is heated, the ink becomes VERY difficult to remove. Thus might be the
reason some can use acetone, while it did not work for me. My karma.

Nice we used to use a lacquer based ink in fast paced printing so it would dry quick no smudge and that was a MEK thinned product once dried was hard to remove.

You will have to be careful to get it washed off quickly, or it will attack the aluminum, if you are going to anodize after, it will have lots of microscopic pits in it, I would not advise anyone to use this, bad choice Doctor Bill

I have always used Acetone or lacquer thinners it has always worked to remove any ink on there aluminum materials

I doubt that it is a paint, most likely just a tough ink with a polymer base, and the lacquer will take that right off

Something else that would probably work well that you may not have thought of. It's not typically thought of in this manner.
Brake fluid. Less hazardous than the paint stripper you mentions. Apply a thin film of it on there. Let it sit a few seconds. maybe 30, then it should just wipe off.
I have removed paint with it before. Unintentionally On the fender well of a car.
Never rest a bottle of brake fluid on anyt vehicle. Use what you need. Cover it or cover your fenders when using it.

How about a polishing compound and polishing wheel?

You'd want to do the entire part as it brings it up like chrome, which is nice
