    Newbie looking for helpful ideas...

Hi everybody, I'm new here, done alot of reading and there is alot of information on this great site.
I am going to start to build a cnc roting table and was wondering if anybody could help with some added info. The table I am lookig to build is an operating 4' x 8' table, my first question is to as which motor should I use stepper or servo? and second should it be direct drive or belt driven?
Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I'm figuring that from what I've been reading that the servo motors are better. How can I know what size I will need?

Cutting wood? You could use servos or steppers....you can't go wrong with anything about 700 oz-in torque.....generally with servos you step or down....depending on your needs.

    Steppers, I would direct drive.

Mostly for wood, with a 2 3/4 hp router. What do you mean, when you say "generally with servos you step or down"?
