    Fusion 360 for $25/year

I think this is a Black Friday deal, and could end at any time.

And it's only for one year. The following years are $300.

That is a good find, it is very good cad/cam for dirt cheap. I would jump on it if I already did not get Autodesk products though work.

I tried to make it work, but it doesn't on my laptop. When I draw something, it is invisible! Running the mouse over, it shows, but then vanishes when the mouse moves away. My video memory is a little smaller than recommended, but I think they need to work on their computer requirements (a little vague).

    Try before you buy, obviously.

There are settings that you can adjust to help the issue out. Try going to the "Display Settings" menu at the bottom of the screen (looks like a little monitor/display icon). In the menu, go to the "Effects" sub menu and uncheck all of the boxes. I had the same problem on my old laptop which I've had since 2005. Once I unchecked those boxes, it made the parts show up where before they were invisible unless you moused over them. I use it only when I am away from my home office, but it's nice to be able to use it at all given how old that laptop is.

Thanks, I just tried your suggestion (again) and it did not work. I asked about this on the Fusion 360 forum. Autodesk said I needed an updated video driver. The update is not available for my laptop, unfortunately.

Given that I do this as a hobby, I'm not eager to go out and buy a computer to run Fusion 360. Besides cost, I'm not sure what I would need to be able to run it. If you read the requirements, my machine is pretty close, just missing a little of the video memory. I don't think increasing my video memory (even if that were possible) would solve the issue.

fusion needs a lot of graphic ram 1 gig plus, there are settings to reduces the amount graphics needed.

go to the graphics manufactures web site to get a update.

Thanks, I did that. The required update for Fusion 360 doesn't apply to my hardware.
The laptop's only 8 years old...a nice machine in the day.

a 8 year old laptop that's a world record, it won't run fusion at all being that old, no wonder you can't get it to work, if you get a new one get a gaming laptop with a AMD graphics they have a hell of a lot less problem and they are fast, a value for money. a work station laptop with the same spec's as a gaming laptop is a $5000 differences, workstation computers are a con they are overpriced home machine's.

    Re: Fusion 360 for $25/year

    I'm running Fusion 360 on a $330 laptop I got on ebay...
    HP Elitebook 8740w
    Windows 7
    Processor
    Intel i7 M640 2.80 GHZ Cpu
    8gb RAM
    500 gb HD
NVIDIA Quadro FX 2800M with CUDA display card (1gb)

Spent another $130 when the HD crashed, Got a new 500gb SSD that is worth the price.
Also use an external monitor I already had.

Using the free version of Fusion for hobbyiest.
