Need to downgrade Mach3 to earlier version. How?

Smooth Stepper people suggested that the very latest Mach3 version x.066 was buggy with SS and I should downgrade one step to x.062 How do I do that without losing all of my setups in the various configuration menus? Can I just overwrite with the older version?

I'm losing z steps if I move in a program using G00 or G01 commands, but never ever lose steps if I do a jog. Makes no sense. Tried every conceivable Motor Tuning change with no joy. Since it jogs perfectly, I can assume the motor is ok, the Gecko 201 is ok, and the power supply is ok. Ideas?? :drowning:

Just save your current profile with a distinct name, out of the main Mach3 folder (save your license file too). That XML file, which has all your configuration settings, will still work in different versions of the program, and will show up as an alternative in Mach3 Loader once you put it (and the license) back into the main Mach3 folder.

You should be able to just install the older version right over the newer one.

Just make a backup copy of the entire Mach3 folder first, just in case.

Thanks, guys. I did save a copy of the xml file, just in case. I merely downloaded the older version of Mach3 and installed it. The settings stayed in place automatically. I still have the same problem of missing steps in z, but I suspect it is the resonance of the motor at low speed. There is a pot adjustment for that. Resonating motors can mess up the step count easily. In jog mode, the z axis is moving at about 10-20 "/min but when I'm losing steps in the program, I am going much slower. That might be it. I'll report back.
