    PSR4/5-250-7500 went puff

    Hello

My Arrow 500 A2100 Power supply PSR4/5-250-7500 went up in smoke. Who rebuilds/exchanges these and will a Kollmogen PSR4/5A-250-7500 work?

    Thanks

    Dave,

We added "A" to the first PSR units to identify ones built BEFORE UL approval was official; UL took forever back then to document approval, so in order to be allowed to ship, we put in the A. We rpr/exchange them too.

So answer is twofold: Yes, it is same unit so will work from that aspect, and corollary is it is one of the first ones built, so really really old. That pretty much guarantees that all the filter caps are dried out and you may have issues of extra heat in the spindle and potential issues accelerating without random UV faults. But well worth trying! Sometimes these 30+ year old electrolytic caps will surprise you!

So I recieved my used psr4/5a today and carfully mounted it in the Arrow and when I power up the cabinet I have a red fault light on the power supply is that normal or is this DOA.

Good news today I pulled my "logic" board out of my original psr4/5 250 and put it into my ebay special and lo and behold the machine powers up and and can go 0 to 4000rpms no faults/errors.

I could not have done this without all of Mike's old PSR posts.

I could not run a 20 year old machine without all the experts on this forum especially Mike and Maverik.

    Thank You All
