    help with production blanks

What is the fastest and most cost effective way to make or buy machined blanks for production. (approximate sizes 2.5"x3"x4" ductile iron)

In a nut shell, I need to make many size blanks that need to be square, perpendicular, parallel, etc....within .005
    a milled finish is fine.

I've looked into (rotary) Blanchard grind, but don't know a lot about them.

It's just too much work for my series one Bridgeport.

These all go into a mutli pallet tombstoned horizontal cnc

There are companies which specialise in selling machined blanks, exactly as you want.
    Search.

Maybe I'm looking more at doing it myself, because everyone in this area that can do it, prices me out of the job.
And there leadtimes are ridiculous. I usually get two weeks to make the different size manifolds complete, with surface treatments (2-3 days) and the vendors want two weeks to get me blanks.

So my new question is: What the most cost effective way to make my own blanks?

Is your Bridgeport a manual machine or CNC?
Quite frankly, if is a manual and you are making anything more than singles, you are probably dead in the water these days.

You basically have 2 choices BUY them or MAKE them. IF all you have is a Series one bridgeport and a Horizonal CNC I woul dbe putting teh CNC to work building blanks for a few days. Also you never siad how many you need per day.

    Cold sawing can get close.

Cold saw or bandsaw to length. If the cut is not smooth/flat enough, then face them on the bridgeport.
