How well do the factory probe routines work for simple work & tool offsets?

    Hi,

I'm considering buying a 2001 Fadal with the MP11 and TS27R Renishaw probes installed. How well do the factory probe software routines work for basic tool and work offsets? It sounds like the later machines had all the basic setup routines in the control with no need for additional software from Renishaw. Is this true?

I tend to do low volume (<200 pcs a run) and prototype work. I think having the probes would make set-ups easier and reduce operator error

    Any response is appreciated.

We have the TS27R probe for tool touch off and it works fine even in our not so friendly to the machine enviorment (a college). I use a "home made" macro to pick up the tools as the cycle that came with the machine didn't work so well(a long story). If you decide to buy the machine let me know and I would be happy to share the program with you.

    Hi JP,

Thanks for responding. I'd like to take a look at the probe macros you wrote...I might learn something

    My email is: [email protected].

    Thanks,

    Jim
