Have v25 3 axis , I would like to draw a 3d wood bowel , 8" dia by 8" depth tapered , I am going to make a dropdown pocket in my cnc wood router table. So I can have enough Z cutting area , any help would be appreciated .

    Thanks

As you didn`t give any angle for the taper or wall thickness I just made it up

    Try the attached file.

P.S. This was done with V25 Build 895

BTW Forgot to mention, it was done in a few minutes using just Primitive Solids, made a couple of cones and Booleaned one from the other

I would use a revolve for a bowl.

What is the build number of your V25, if it is older than Build 895 then it will not open the file, I assume you are able to open the Zip file OK ? ?

Anyway, here is another bowl done in an older version V24, if you have V25 then you should have no problem opening the file

Hope this works for you now

Hi Al , I now have V 29 . I want to cut a bowl 12" dia x 4" high with radius sides , I want to draw and cut inside and outside . Can you point me in the right direction , are there any videos etc.

    Thanks Ed

One way to do it using simple Solids, quick and easy :-

Draw lines and arcs to get the correct arc radius for the outside shape.
Next, create a solid Sphere using the radius you got (In your 12" x 4" bowl would be a Rad of 6.5") and set it at X0,Y0,Z6.5 so the bottom of the Sphere is at Z0.
Next, create a Circular Plane that is a little bigger than your Sphere and place it at X0,Y0,Z4"
Next use the "Split Solid tool and cut the Sphere at that height so that will give you your 4" height, now delete both the top part of the Sphere and also the Circular plane and you will be left with a solid the shape of your bowl.
Next use the "Shell" option to set your wall thickness and create the internal shape, assuming that you want a parallel wall thickness.

I have attached a sample file for you, done in V28 so you should be able to open it OK, I did the wall thickness at 0.25" but you can easily edit that in the CAD Tree,

There are other ways but I think this is the easiest

Another way to do it is to draw the shape of half the cross section (a quadrant) and then use the "Revolve" strategy to create your solid shape. You have to do this so it is drawn in the X axis otherwise it doesn`t revolve correctly.

Next you need to Rotate the solid so it is the right way up and then do the "Shell" operation, this is another easy way.

Or, you can just draw the shape you want the bowl to be with the wall thickness you want and then just "Revolve" it, no "Shell" required, even easier

    File attached.
