Hello Forum,
While attempting to cut some 3/4" mild steel last night, our Trumpf 3030 suddenly having problems with the y-axis. It began reporting it's position incorrectly, and was unable to home itself.
Upon inspection, we found we were able to move the servo by hand even under power. When it tried to home itself, it would "slip" against the push back from the bellows. The encoder count increases, but the head is unable to move.
When moving unencumbered by the bellows, the servo moves much slower than normal and the encoder count does not match the movement of the laser head.
I'm curious if anyone has faced these symptoms before and what the outcome was. The servo drive isn't reporting any errors and this is a 2009 unit, so I'm inclined to think it's more likely a worn servo than a faulty drive. But I'm also wondering if this could simply be an "out of tune" servo.
Any thoughts are much appreciated!
