    Zombie Response Unit Sign

Here is a project I designed, a Zombie Response Unit Sign.
It's a relatively simple sign but using a variety of materials.

We will have Dimensional Cut-Out letters using Dibond which will be either inlayed or more than likely stand-off on to a wood back piece.
The O in the word Zombie will be like a gun scope aimed at... what else a zombie lol.

The scope will be made of Clear Acrylic, Carbon-Fiber and Red Sticker Vinyl on a piece of white Plastic.

Also the word RESPONSE UNIT will be Carbon-Fiber and inlayed into the wood.

The Zombie Response Unit Sign will be 6" High and 22" Wide.

will be using a Vision 2550 CNC Router for this project.

I will be posting photos and possibly videos of our progress with this project.

    I like it!

    cheers, Ian
It's rumoured that everytime someone buys a TB6560 based board, an engineer cries!

Here are photos of the Dibond we routed out on the Vision 2550 CNC Router
Dibond is a brand name of a material consisting of a solid piece of polyethylene (plastic) sandwiched between two sheets of thin aluminum. This make for a rigid aluminum like material but lighter.

Here we added countersinks for the standoff screws

    Re: Zombie Response Unit Sign

Here are photos of the "O" in the word Zombie, we routed and engraved various materials to give it a dimensional look.
It's supposed to be a rifle scope aiming at a zombie.

First layer is a Zombie Graphic made from sticker vinyl on plastic.
We used Print-To-Cut system and an engraving head, basically a camera sees the dots/ registration marks on the application and uses it to cut-out a perfect circle around the Zombie graphic.

Second layer is a routed out half inch piece of clear acrylic, we switched to a routing head for this.
It's a big mess because again we removed the dust collection boot from the 2550 CNC Router to show the area being routed.

Third layer is the Carbon Fiber cross hairs.
It's important to note, if your going to work with Carbon Fiber, use gloves and a mask.
You don't want to inhale the fibers or get it on your skin.

We also did the Carbon Fiber letters that are going to be inlayed into the wood backing for the sign.

Forth layer is a plastic part that we added and was not in the original design, this part will help hold down layers 1, 2, & 3.

The Fifth layer will be the Dibond letter "O" that we routed out earlier in the project.
Here are a photos of all the pieces.

    Here it is put together.

Here are photos of the finished Zombie Sign.

One adjustment we made was adding color to the routed out Dibond letters with red sticker vinyl.
Below is the Zombie Sign with out the colored letters, we felt the red vinyl makes the the sign stand out more compared to leaving it black.
Also, we left the letter "O" black to give it contrast to the other letters, being the center point of the Zombie Sign.
All the parts of this sign was CNC routed & engraved on the Vision 2550 CNC Router, well everything except the red sticker vinyl lol.
