    Question huangyang vfd and spindle question

    Is it possible and/or safe to program the VFD without the spindle connected?

    Yes, it is perfectly safe, the VFD does not communicate with the spindle at all unless it is turned on. Do not - however - attempt to run the VFD without the spindle connected (i.e., dont press the green button unless the spindle is properly connected).

    I have never experienced a problem yet testing a VFD without a motor connected.
