Most thread mill manufacturers have an on-line application which will generate code to mill the thread you want, you can then integrate that into your own code,

Thread milling offers several advantages over tapping including that it works on machines which don't support rigid tapping and it gives an identical thread start point on all parts.

Tapping is faster. I only cut threads when I have no other choice (time is money) With a Hass tapping is crazy fast

The original question wasn't answered. I need to cut a 6 inch NPT thread external. This is a BOBCAD forum. How would one program with BOBCAD to cut pipe threads?

This is an example I did with 1/2" NPT. If its an internal thread you will need your starting major diameter and your ending major and input all of that into a Spiral CAD feature. Then add your lead in and out. Oh, and the 3D Engrave Feature uses the line as the center of tool so make sure you draw your spiral HALF the diam of your tool smaller then actual.
