Re: Used Mac Turn 250W worth buying?
Control - wise the Okuma is great. On that particular machine they had some issues with the telescopic covers between the B-turret and the W-axis. It helps a lot to limit travel in Z when indexing so the covers aren't slamming around. Moving the B and the W at the same time when transferring also helps with cover longevity. The other cover issue is chips getting behind them and tearing up the linear guides. They did design a cover upgrade, but before I bought I'd check by sliding back the covers by the B turret and looking for chips by the linear guide clamp blocks. If the blocks are removed, the upgrade has been done most likely. They also had a weak belt on the XB axis which can be greatly improved by ordering a HP belt from Bando. Those machines are advanced, so a careless operator can wreak havoc when not watching clearances with the A head and aligning them is not a fun job, so don't put johnny crash-a-lot on it.
