    Laser engraving anodized aluminum

    hello,

I`ve been trying to engrave signs on black anodized aluminum (DuraBlack 0.005 coating) and it works well for small surfaces,
but when engraving larger sheets I see soot like material deposition on the far side (from the starting position) of the sheet and browning of the metal underneath it, while other areas of the sheet are crisp white, a second pass doesn't clean the discoloration.
    I am using a 60w laser with 25-30% power and 70-100% speed , 600DPI.
The sheet is not perfectly flat, it has a very small belly in the middle and is held on the perimeter.
The focus is set right and there doesn't seem to be a correlation between the unevenness and the discoloration.

I`ll gladly take any advice you can throw at me on how to resolve this.

    Thanks a bunch.

Have you tried to put the piece to record elsewhere in the table to test if the problem persists? Had to write reversing the art starting recording side who finished first?

It looks like maybe some of the ablated material has re-condensed on the aluminum.
