    Refitting servo mounting flange?

    Hi,
does anyone out there have any experience changing the face mounting flange on a DC servo motor.
I have a couple of SEM MT30 servos that have NEMA-56 mounting flanges that I would like to change over to metric.
There seems to be a much better selection of new/used metric precision gear boxes out there, than the big NEMA types.
The OEM replacement mounting plates for the servos are not to badly priced. I am just not sure of what I can potential screw up by removing the original mounting flange, and am I likely to need any special tools.
    Thank you for your time.

You should remove the main brushes and tach brushes, if used.
It's an opportunity to blow the carbon out anyway.
You may need a puller to get the plate off, but usually it is not a super tight fit.
Make sure you check the end float when you have it re-assembled and increase or decrease the bearing shim washers as required to get virtually no end play, a little is better than too tight.

    Thanks Al,
I think I will play it safe, and change the adapter flange on the gear, and not screw around with the bearings.
