    VFD Askpower A131NBC-2022 Setup

    Just information for anyone who is having a problem getting an Askpower A131 to operate ( like I did.). The A131NBC-2022 is a 2.2Kw VFD (220V single Phase) / (220V 3 phase) converter. I have it wired up and connected to an old Bridgeport mill I have rebuilt. It has a 1hp motor wired as 3 phase star config. I have the manual but I'm clueless how to correctly set pn01 - pn35. I do not have a potentiometer but I have used two 2.4K resistors as a voltage divider between 5V, 5Vin, and GND (Which I do not need with Pn03=2) . The key to making this device work is Pn08=3.

    So if anyone has used one of these VFDs, I would like to know how they have set it up or any tips they could share.

    Pn32=3 sets all parameters to default values.
    The Parameter in RED below are ones changed to enable the unit to work.

    Re: VFD Askpower A131NBC-2022 Setup

    Hi there

    Did you find any more info on the Askpower VFD's? I have a 1.5kw VFD and it is running a 3 phase 800 watt Chinese spindle. I can't get it to run properly and all the info on here is for the other common Husquavana VFD. This doesn't have the same Pn numbers so it's confusing as nobody is stating what the functions are. I've got the manula for the VFD but no info on the motor - i.e. no of poles. I want to display the speed (not the frequency) on the display. Thanks Mick

    No... I was happy to get it running. I haven't had time to researched anymore. I had to increase pn09 Deceleration time. I want to add potentiometer and a braking resistor. If I find any good info I will post it here. So if you set pn01 to 4 assuming it is a 4 pole motor what do you get. I'll try that today and see what I get for a read out... Or error

    Here is a post that mactec54 was helping me on when I was connecting my A131 up. http://www.cnczone.com/forums/spindl...er-cooled.html

    I am curious, have either of you all been able to connect it to your controller so you can use software to turning the A131 on and off, controlling speed, etc?

    I'm about to do it so watch this space! I'll be using RS485 (bought a 2 wire dongle off ebay for about £3). I'll post it on here when I've done it (might take a while to sort out the data!). Got the Askpower working nicely today, just got to adjust the acceleration, and will post all the settings for it later. Mick

    Setting Pn01 by its self did not result in any great finding.

    My version does not have the rs232 port or braking function.

    Re: VFD Askpower A131NBC-2022 Setup

    YYEAHOO

    You are showing a very bad example of how not to set a VFD Drive like this

    Just some pointers for other that are trying to muddle through the settings of any VFD, there are not many setting that need to be changed, but there are some important ones that matter

    As you know the USA uses 60Hz as its main Frequency

    In this case the motor on YYEAHOO Machine is a 60Hz motor so Pno2 needs to be set at the Motor Frequency which in this case is 60Hz not the 50Hz it has it set at

    The Maximum Frequency for a motor like this is between 80 Hz and 120 Hz max, so Pn10 can only be set at a max of 120Hz not 400 Hz

    The Minimum Frequency for a motor like this is also limited to around 40Hz not 1.5 so Pn11 needs to be set at 40 Hz for Minimum Frequency

    Every Ac motor or Spindle motors which we see a lot of on here, have there own settings for the type of motor being used, in YYEAHOO case it is a regular 60 Hz Ac Motor

    I did not bother to look at the other settings as these are the only important settings that need to be set

    Pn02=60

    Pn10=120 Hz Max

    Pn11=40 Hz min

    Note that some Parameters in these VFD Drives can not be changed, so these will stay at the Default

    There is not many Parameters to set some are important as you will see your Spindle motor can not be compared to YYEAHOO Motor

    Settings for your spindle are not that different from any others, if your spindle is 400 Hz or it may be 300 Hz, here is a list for your spindle if you have a 300 Hz spindle just change the 400 Hz in this list to 300 Hz

    Your Spindle motor is only 2 Poles

    Pn01=2

    Pn02=400

    Pn04=1

    Pn05=1

    Pn08=12s or more if needed, less if it is happy and does not fault

    Pn09=12s or more if needed, less if it is happy and does not fault

    Pn10=400

    Pn11=200 this is adjustable depending on your Spindle Motor never below 100 though

    Pn12=400

    There may be some other Parameters to set but this will get you running safely

    Re: VFD Askpower A131NBC-2022 Setup

    Please allow me to butt into this conversation and say THANK YOU!!!!! I've been struggling thru the conversion of a TREE mill since last fall (Part time of course) and just over the weekend managed to get brave enough to put power on the machine for the 1st time (expecting the worst) only to find that all my wiring was just fine... and then, couldn't get the VFD to power anything except the brake on the spindle motor. But, thanks to you guys, I plugged in the parameters recommended above...AND IT WORKED!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH....brooks
