For rotating lathe automatic tool changers, is it possible to do a low torque startup check to make sure there are no tool collision problems with the changer?

Reading Tormach's automatic lathe tool changer manual, they warn about overhanging boring bars potentially crashing into the tool changer itself.

Apart from the general rule of "don't be a dumbass and be aware of such things before you hit Start" it seems like this could be detected and prevented programmatically at the start of a cutting sequence...

"Seek to all changer positions to verify motion capability, but limit servo current flow to the minimum needed to rotate the changer head without stalling. In event of failed changer seek due to collision, halt execution and alert operator."
