Tapered rolling bearings upgrade for mini lathe .. Bearings question

I have looked online to see a lot of people are using the SKF 30206 30x62x17.5mm tapered bearings upgrade for the mini lathe, but they have to make adjustments to the plastic covers for the extra 1.5mm difference of these tapered bearings to the stock 30x62x16mm Bearing. I have seen that there is SKF 30206 30x62x16mm bearings. Wouldn't it be easier to just purchase these SKF 30206 30x62x16mm tapered bearings as the stock bearing and these tapered are the exact same size, instead of the 17.5mm bearings?

Re: Tapered rolling bearings upgrade for mini lathe .. Bearings question

I suspect the 16mm wide bearings are angular contact ball bearings. The tapered roller bearings are substantially stiffer, and will carry a lot of load in both the radial and axial directions, whereas the angular contact ball bearings will deflect under load a lot more.
