Can someone tell me what RPM I might be able to expect with HP Laserjet II/III Printer steppers? I'll be driving them with a HCNC controller. I realize there are other factors but I only need a WAG for now. Thanks

0 IPM x 20 Threads/TurnsPerInch = 0 RPM
40 IPM X 20 Threads/TurnsPerInch = 800 RPM
60 IPM x 20 Threads/TurnsPerInch = 1200 RPM
80 IPM x 20 Threads/TurnsPerInch = 1600 RPM
So, Rance, I've gotten anywhere from 0-1600 RPM from my little 100 oz-in HPLJ II/III/IID/IIID stepper motors. My motors start losing steps somewhere between 75-80 IPM with my discontinued Xylotex unipolar stepper motor driver board (similar to HobbyCNC 4AUPC driver board that's now on clearance).
I hope that helps you out,
HayTay
Don't be the one that stands in the way of your success!
HayTay,
This is GREAT news. Thanks for the reply. I know they are not the same but the only stepper I have turned so far is the ones from a 5.25" floppy drive. I sortof guessed at about 90rpm for those. Even with a 1/2-10 leadscrew, that only gives me 9ipm. Don't think I could do ANYTHING with that. Right now I'd be tickled pink with 40ipm. 80ipm would be pie in the sky.
