Hope you had a good turkey day too.
Picking up a new mill in the next couple weeks, an RF-45 clone.
Been checking prices and features for a few days and made made a list
on Excel that I have posted here. The IH and the MTW IH clone are out
as they just cost more than I want to spend. I can get the Grizzly G0484
for less and it's LOADED. I plan to keep it manual for quite a while.
Waiting on a few email replies about whether the suppliers have their mills in stock
because I want it here before Xmas so I can play during the holiday vacation.
This is gonna be used for steel primarily for the new CNC mill project.
I'll have to separate it into big chunks in the driveway and haul them down and around to the basement door.
Hope the warm weather keeps up.

Yeah right!! Lets start a sweepstakes. My moneys on Hoss CNC'ing the RF-45 before Easter

nice project
Hoss,
Don't forget about the Promo Codes!
Jeff...
Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.
Thanks Jeff,
I'll keep those in mind since they are 2 near the top of my list.
All the goodies on the G0484 are nice but $500 is $500.
I can make powerfeeds myself for next to nothing and a stand as well.
The stock stand may be too tall and cost me some Z travel.

I watched your videos on the 10X22 again today.
Now you have a year on it, what is the verdict? Would you mind giving us a quick review please?
Regards,
Mark
No complaints with the 10x22, the videos show it's capable for whatever I need it for.
Steel is no problem at all.
Would have liked an even more integrated gearbox since you still have to manually changes
some gears for different thread pitches but it's ok for the price.
I'm so impatient sometimes, I already put in an order for the RF-45 clone from Wholesale tool.
I'm not a new customer but found a code that gives me the same discount, SAVENOW.
Grizzly isn't expecting the G0484 till Dec 23rd and it's $575 more so that's that.
Now I can make a couple power feed projects for it,
I prefer it on the right side anyhow.

I have been following your stuff for a long time. I too wanted to get a mill and lathe by xmas, i'm off for a month. Machinist for the last 37 years..
I'm going with the 10x22 for home, and the rf45 clone just cause your the man
.
Thanks for posting your intentions....
I will however do the 10x22 and rf45 to cnc right smartly....
Snatch
i too will have to take the sucker apart in pieces to get into the basement.
Dang Wisconsin winters won't let me work in my 28x28 garage...
brrrrrrr
I ordered a crane that mounts in the bed of my pickup to help with taking the thing apart
but the mill might beat it here.
don't think I'd have to worry about a neighbor kid walking off with the crate if it sits under a tarp for a few days.

Hey guys, This video shows the MPG used on my lathe.
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKGabw603x0"]YouTube- Homemade MPG used on the Lathe.wmv[/ame]
What I have done was to put the C10 in a old AB switch box. The C10 is hookup to port #2 and using the hotkeys, No Mach3 Brain used. I have another AB switch box for the MILL and the Lathe, i just switch between them with the pendant now. The Red square button is used for Stop and the Black used for Cycle Start.

Hi Bob
Been following you with interest. Thanks for the idea of using an old parallel switch box as an interface - brilliant lateral thinking. I have ordered one of Arturos C10 after much searching the electronics to build the interface was about the same as CNC4PC have been listing the C10 on ebay. No doubt I will have to pay import duty but is still a bargain for a ready made solution.
Regards
Pat
Hey Bob,
I had to do something similar a while back on my console,
I needed to free up the inputs on the C10
used for the MPG switches and use them for outputs.
I remapped 3 of the momentary switches on the panel to use for Cycle Jog Step,
Jog Mode and Axis Selection like you are doing.
Half the time I just use the mouse though.

Have room in the shop now for the rf-45, think I should have plenty of room
for Z travel after reading about Bob Warfields ceiling limits.
I have 10" more so I ordered a stand for it since I won't need to make a short one.
On sale too! with the coupon as well.
Wholesale Tool got a couple grand from me this weekend.

Hoss, the rf45 community is thrilled to have you lining up to start innovating on our machines!
Fwiw, these mills are heavy. I have the obligatory engine hoist, but I've also found an inexpensive scissors (die) table is a real handy thing to have around the shop. They aren't that expensive if you look around.
Cheers,
