    College PCNC440

Well we were fortunate enough to have some funds available to enhance our Mech. Engineering Technology program, so I suggested the Tormach PCNC440 Deluxe Package. Well it arrived during spring break and when we got back we eagerly assembled it. I must say Tormach did a very good job with this model and assembling the package, it comes with 99.5% of what I would want to be able to start machining, in my opinion it should have included a parallel set. Yes I should have caught that and added a set to the order.
First impressions are it is a well built machine, the students love it and should be a great asset in teaching the Intro to CNC section of the program.

    Parallels are an important lesson.

    Machined soft jaws can substitute.

I agree, I use aluminum soft jaws cut as step jaws most of the time. In fact I have a drawer full of aluminum step jaws I use as fixtures for specific parts I make repeatedly.
