I just received a new Harbor Freight 33686 Mill. It was shipped with the end cutter in place. Probably as a consequence of that, the key in the spindle shaft that keeps the R-8 arbor from rotating has been partially snapped off. From reading forums, it sounds like this key is just a small metric set screw that I could replace, if I can get the spindle shaft out of the quill.

Has anyone removed the spindle shaft in one of these machines? Does the spindle shaft just slide into the bearings that hold it in the quill or is this a press fit? How do I get the quill assembly out of the head? Based on the parts diagram, looks like a retaining ring is keeping the whole assembly from coming out of the head?

Thanks for any advice from someone who has disassembled this part of the mill!
