    v-carve inside corner radius using a v-bit question

    Hi,

    I am rarely asked to use a v-bit tool but on this occasion am. I thought I would use the v-carve engrave tool in Aspire to cut the chamfered text. i'm seeing that it wants to round the inside corners, see pic. I would prefer if these were square or left out to hand carve afterwards. How do I achieve nice square inside corners, or even can I?

    Any advice or links most welcome to resolve.

    You "could" if the horizontal parts of the letters are the same width as the vertical parts, but it will take a little work. Basically you turn these two parts into separate rectangles, and v-carve each one. That will give you the sharp corner you desire.

    The reason it creates that curve is because the VCarve will go to max depth so that the edges of the bit touch the outline. Because that gets wider as you approach a corner it will create that "round" where it's actually going a little deeper as well.

    This is interesting, would setting the max depth at the same depth as full v for the horizontal correct this as long as the vertical is the same width as mentioned?

    From memory I'm pretty certain if you use the text type tool in vcarve (not sure about aspire) you don't seem to get this with standard type fonts.

    He asked this on the Vectric forum too, and the responses were the same as Louie's. Make separate rectangles and Carve them separately.

    Indeed I did ask this on Vetric forum and the answer when I tested does seem to be make separate shapes and and carve individually. Thanks to all who took the time to reply
