Angry New 64 bit computer....need help

I bought an old DynaCNC table with a Dyna1000-THC controller (didn't know they were defunct) and was just getting it kind of figured out, when the 10 year old computer decided to fry itself.

I did what any newbie would have done and bought a new computer. Now for my problems....

Mach 3 won't run on 64 bit, so I bought Mach4.....Apparently Mach doesn't really like to pay anyone to offer tech support to its customers. It appears that I need some sort of plugin and need to setup the software to run the control box.

Have any of you been through this and can lead me to a manual that will give me some direction. I am very green with this stuff.

I am about $10,000 into this adventure so far, I am frustrated to say the least.:drowning:

Re: New 64 bit computer....need help

I have Mach3 installed and running on my development PC which is windows 7 64bit, however I have not connected to a CNC controller. So I guess some 64bit systems it may work.

This might be a bit of a pain to do (and may not work) but you could try running an emulator so the 64 bit pretends it is a 32 bit PC:

From Microsoft: "WOW64 is the x86 emulator that allows 32-bit Windows-based applications to run seamlessly on 64-bit Windows"
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/lib...=vs.85%29.aspx

Or you could try running in XP mode (I have used this to run programs that would not run on WIN7):
Install and use Windows XP Mode in Windows 7

I wouldn't think you could damage your PC port or controller, but I'm not 100% sure (maybe 95% you will be ok) so be careful (don't blame me if something goes bang).

As long as you have the needed parallel ports, give XP mode a try with Mach3. If that doesn't work, how about downgrading the computer to a Win 7 32 bit operating system.
You could try the forum here: Mach4 General Discussion
I think the Dyna 1000 was made by Tom Caudle at Candcnc, you could try them: Home

Neither Mach3 or Mach4 can use a parallel port in a 64 bit version of windows.
They will both work fine, however, if you use a motion controller.
Not sure if your THC will work properly with a motion controller, though.
You're best option is to probably by an old Pentium 4 PC with XP on it from Ebay, or Craigslist. Shouldn't be more than about $100
