FANUC 6T NO MDI & NO CYCLE START

    Hi,

I have a Nakamura TMC-3 with Fanuc 6T controller. I can power on, zero reset, Jog, Move with Pulse wheel ok. I changed the mode to MDI and tried to do the MDI command with S200 [input] M3 [input] and hit either Keyboard Start or Cycle start but the machine did not do anything. The MDI screen will not clear (Not taking the MDI command). I then changed the mode to MEM to load a program and run it with Cycle Start but no working either. No alarm, No Led blinking, The door is close. The machine was working before I bought it. Please help me with any suggestions.
    Thanks,
    -Michael

FANUC 6T NO MDI & NO CYCLE START

    Try to do this
Select MDI, turn the memory protect key to off position, hit the command button, look at page number , hit the next page to be on the page 2.
type the command : S key than 500 and input.
you should see that the control display 500 next to S position.
click M-key than type 03 and input.
make sure the chuck is in closed position even if it doesn't hold any material.
Press Cycle Start if all is clear !
You may need to turn the memory protect key back ON, to have a Cycle Start working.

This is the only way my Mori SL-3 executes MDI commands.
    Good luck

Ok I understand , I am not familiar with your machine, but have you tried doing it the way I described without the memory protect part ?

indeed nakamura is a celebrity to not rotate spindle if chuck is not clamped and even in new machines they do not assign a message or alarm for trying to rotate the spindle with chuck open

Re: FANUC 6T NO MDI & NO CYCLE START

    Hello,

I did home each axis ok. I did try to enter the MDI command as you suggest and the system does not take the MDI command. I use the foot switch close/open the chuck and I saw the 5C collet open/close but no indicator on the panel. Either chuck position, the system still does not take the MDI command. I even tried to switch the electrical phase and the system come up with system alarm so I switch them back. How do I know the system is in feed hold or not? the feed light is not on.
    Thanks

Re: FANUC 6T NO MDI & NO CYCLE START

    Hi,

I spent more time on the machine and now the machine can take the MDI command and execute it. I can do home command G28 U0.0 W0.0, Tool command T0100, T0200, T0300, etc and G50 X0 Z10 But I still can not do the spindle command S200 M3 and the spindle won't run. I can push the feed hold & the feed hold light up. I think the machine think the spindle is running which is why I can do the feed hold. I like to enter manual a simple program to move the machine but I don't know how to enter manually, could you send some instructions on how to program the machine manually?
    Thanks, -Michael

I am having the same issue on an 18i-T control. What was the resolution to the above issue, perhaps it is relevant to mine. Thanks
